The Freedom Bible Fact Sheet
"The 9/11 attacks were a national trauma and, for many Americans, a very personal one. Ten years later, we are continuing to heal from that terrible day and find freedom from the fear it engendered in so many of us. The Freedom Bible demonstrates God's desire for us to find and live in freedom from fear, abuse, oppression and enslavement of every kind."

WHAT?
The Freedom Bible is the first American Bible to highlight the more than 3,500 verses that refer to freedom. Not a new translation, The Freedom Bible uses the Contemporary English Version. What is new is the bright blue highlighting, combined with an integrated study guide that helps readers recognize that God has a lot to say about freedom - in all its many forms. The Freedom Bible, reveals that, whatever your story and whatever your past, God wants you to experience greater freedom, a freedom that only He can provide.
How?

Challenging the notion that the Bible is a dusty, outdated rulebook, The Freedom Bible provides practical insights into what the best-selling book in history says about today’s tough topics including liberation from fear following the attacks of Sept. 11, from addiction, from captivity and from circumstances. The integrated study guide located in the center of The Freedom Bible invites readers to understand and accept the responsibility that comes with freedom. The Freedom Bible highlights stories of how the Bible has helped people break free from the aftermath of rape and the grip of addiction.
Why?
"In the U.S. and abroad, many people are enslaved to a wide variety of things. The Freedom Bible reveals that God does not want us to live in captivity but as people who are forgiven, transformed and free to live as He would want us to," said Commissioner Christine MacMillan, director of The Salvation Army's International Social Justice Committee.
Who?
The Freedom Bible was produced through a collaboration between The Salvation Army, a 130-year-old Christian social services organization dedicated to providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children, and American Bible Society, a 195-year-old charity whose mission is to make the Bible available to every person in a language and format each can understand and afford, so that all people may experience its life-changing message.
