Rock the Lakes Makes a Splash in Milwaukee - Next Stop: Denver
Next Week Franklin Graham Brings Evangelistic Concert Event to Denver for Rock the Range
MILWAUKEE, Aug. 22, 2011—While sailboats rocked on the swells of Lake Michigan, tens of thousands of people rocked in a different way on the lakeshore over the weekend in Milwaukee - for Rock the Lakes.
Sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and with the help of more than 300 churches in the Milwaukee area, Rock the Lakes drew 26,500 people to Veterans Park Aug. 20-21, where they rocked out to popular music artists, including Skillet, Lecrae, Charlie Daniels Band, Michael W. Smith, The Almost, The Afters and Canton Jones. Each night, Franklin Graham shared a message of hope and encouragement with the crowds.
"I want to give each and every one of you an opportunity to confess your sin to God, ask for forgiveness and receive salvation," said Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and international Christian relief organization Samaritan's Purse. "God will hear you from Heaven and he will forgive you of your sins and you will be set free."
During the two days of Rock the Lakes, 868 people responded to the invitation to receive Jesus Christ as their savior.
Next week, Graham will be in Denver for Rock the Range at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Aug. 27-28. Just like Milwaukee, all events at Rock the Range in Denver will be open to the public and free of charge.
Following Denver, Graham's next Festival events this year will take place in Winnipeg, Canada (Sept. 17); Vilnius, Lithuania (Oct. 29-30) and Hyderabad, India (Nov. 10-13).
