Back-to-School: Tips for Christian Parents
Students Don't Have to Leave Their Faith at Home as They Return to the Classroom
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark., Aug. 26, 2010—One of America’s top "Mommy Bloggers" is offering parents five easy tips for helping their kids bring their faith with them as they head back to school this fall.
"Whether our kids are heading to public, private or Christian schools, Christian parents are nervous about what their kids will face back in the classroom," said Kristie Sawickis of the blog, This Side of Enternity. "As a mom, I want to do what I can to ensure that my kids are equipped to successfully 'own' their faith when they are back in school."
Sawickis, the mother of two, offers the following tips for Christian parents to help prepare their kids for back-to-school.
- Pray FOR your kids. It may seem obvious, but praying for your kids is probably the most important thing you can do to prepare them to head back to school.
- Pray WITH your kids. Praying with your kids will remind them that they don't have to face the challenges of a new school year alone. They have the Lord - and you!
- Select a verse or passage of Scripture to memorize together as this semester's key verse. Pick a verse that will remind your child that God is always in his/her corner.
- Help your kids see the bigger picture. Kids will understandably have some nerves about starting a new school year. But it is important to help them keep their concerns in perspective. Look for an opportunity to volunteer with your kids to serve the less fortunate.
- Equip your kids with faith-themed resources. Head over to Walmart to pick up DaySpring's edgy, Christian-themed and scripture-infused notebooks, binders, folders and supply pouches. They'll make it easy for kids to share their faith without saying a word. And priced at just $2.50, DaySpring's Back-to-School products won't break the bank.
